Calling all kinds of loving families

It should be a fact of life for every child – a loving family and a safe home where they can grow up happy and content. Unfortunately, more than 2,000 children across the UK are currently awaiting adoption, still hoping for that security and permanency in their lives.

For older children, sibling groups, children with additional needs and children from black and minority ethnic backgrounds, the wait can be particularly long. Children in these groups are sadly deemed ‘hard to place’, with widespread misconceptions that they are harder to care for.

It’s a picture that St. Francis’ Children’s Society (SFCS) wants to change.

SFCS is an independent adoption agency based in Milton Keynes, and is especially committed to finding families for the children who wait longest in care. Our adoption service is called Adoption Connections, and is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. Our team are warm and friendly, and we welcome all kinds of adopters for all kinds of children, regardless of age, race, cultural background, marital status or sexual orientation.

St. Francis’ Children’s Society's adoptive parents receive a wide range of support services, both before and after they are approved. Children and families have access to a range of counselling, training, therapy, workshops, a ‘buddying’ scheme and various family events. SFCS also have a purpose-built Family Centre providing the perfect space for these activities to take place.

Regular information evenings take place each month and are hosted by knowledgeable staff and experienced adopters, who offer advice, share their experiences and answer your questions.
