"We are fortunate to live in a society that is diverse and has become progressively open to being inclusive of all types of families. Nevertheless, as a recent government survey had highlighted, in many areas of our life of which health care is one, there is still a lot to be done so that our society develops a better understanding of the needs and experiences of LGBT and intersex people.
Since City Fertility was established in 2012, we have been offering premium fertility treatment to our LGBT couples and singles and we have been delighted to witness the creation of many beautiful families. Our team of experienced physicians, scientists, nurses and counsellors take pride in helping overcome any challenges that an LGBT couple or single people may face.
Using an individualized approach, and when needed also cutting edge technologies, we create a customized treatment plan that will be unique to your family’s needs. We offer a full range of assisted reproduction treatment options including IUI, IVF, ICSI, PGT-A (PGS), egg freezing, sperm freezing, egg donation, surrogacy, treatment using donor sperm or partner’s sperm, along with specific treatment for recurrent implantation failure and recurrent miscarriages.
We provide comprehensive information on all the treatment options available to you to choose from to build your family. While many of the treatment options for LGBT couples or singles are the same as they are in the case of heterosexual service users there are a few considerations which are more unique to your care. Lesbian couples may wish to consider co-IVF, a process by which an embryo is created using donor sperm and eggs from one partner, so that it can be transferred into the womb of her partner/spouse. Co-parenting is an option often considered by LGBT singles and at times even by LGBT couples who wish to have their gamete-donor or surrogate involved in the upbringing of their child. Thinking about egg or sperm freezing prior to sex reassignment surgery or sex reassignment treatment is another important consideration. Surrogacy treatment using gamete donation or co-parenting may have significant social, psychological and legal implications and our unit will be there for you with an experienced and knowledgeable team of doctors, nurses and counsellors to guide you and support you through this journey.
We provide a very individualized approach and a bespoke, tailor-made treatment plan for every couple or individual who approach us. The primary requirement for a successful treatment is good clinical assessment. In the majority of LGBT couples or singles the meticulous clinical assessment we offer at City-Fertility does not flag up any concerns. In such cases we refrain from using unnecessary and often unhelpful complex fertility interventions and we tend to opt for a process which is as natural as possible. This approach minimises both the costs associated with your treatment as well as any unnecessary risk. On the other hand, having the experience we have in the field of fertility medicine and assisted reproduction means that we are able to diagnose any conditions which may affect your fertility earlier, so that you have the right type of fertility treatment in a timely fashion and that you do not end up having treatment that is unlikely to succeed.
Whether you are in need of simple treatment such as intra-uterine insemination or more complex fertility intervention such as IVF, ICSI, PGT-A (PGS) and surrogacy your treatment will be managed with attention to details, close monitoring, and robust clinical judgment. Finally, our lab is equipped with the state of the art technology to offer this full range of fertility interventions. Sperm, egg and embryo handling in well controlled environment and embryo culture which is guaranteed to take place in time lapse incubators are a few additional elements of quality of care that translate into excellent success rates."
