Looking for something fun to do with your kids this summer? Get your skates on and head down to Bristol's iconic Millenium Square for a family session at the Bump Rollerdisco popup.
Two weeks into the summer holiday we needed something energetic to occupy our boys: Noah, 9, and Eli, a very large 6 year old. We decided to give Bump Rollerdisco popup in Millenium Square Bristol a try. Neither of our boys had been on rollerskates before and they were desperate to try them. The staff furnished us with some sparkly roller boots (Noah ever got light up wheels) and we wobbled our way to the rink. For a temporary popup it's a generous size and has a useful hand rail all the way around so us novice skaters had something to grab whenever we started to topple. Eli relied on this most of the time as he's quite top heavy, but as his confidence grew he let go a bit more. Noah got some tips from a Bump roller girl, the main one being 'pretend you're a penguin!' and got wheeling along confidently. The tunes were stonking, it never got too busy and everyone was having a blast. We didn't manage the full two hours as it's pretty hard owrk but it was the right mix of tecnical challeng and physical exertion to keep both our boys happy. And we loved the astonking tunes, funky decor and laid back atmosphere.
Bump Rollerdisco is an epic Bristol institution that has grown in the last year. We enjoyed wheeling away a couple of hours on a hot summer afternoon. And we could nurse our hot feet in the fountains of Millenium Square after!
