LGBT History 2016, Schools and Families Day

Would you like to be read children's stories by Sir Ian McKellan and Bonnie Greer? Or hear Harvey Milk's nephew read a story about his uncle? Or perhaps you're an educator looking for LGBT resources...

The Museum of London and Schools OUT UK are hosting a schools and families day to celebrate LGBT History Month with workshops, film and audio visual presentations, readings and family activities. Parents and teachers can bring their children and young people knowing there will be plenty of things for them to do.

Educators and librarians get to hear about free LGBT-inclusive resources from local museums and experts in the fields of FE, Trans issues, Schools OUT UK CSIE and Ros Asquith on inclusion in books.

There will also be an audio-visual educational presentation on representations of homosexuality within Indian culture and Hinduism and a film documenting the process of setting up a black LGBT archive in north London and the effect of section 28 and LGBT parents and kids explaining what they want from schools.

Young peoples books will be read by authors James Dawson, Keren David and Jane Eaglton as well as Stuart Milk who will be reading a book about his uncle Harvey Milk.

The letterbox library will be there so you can not only get the books you want but you can get them signed too!

This unique exciting day to discover resources, meet experts and swap stories and ideas with parents ad be entertained.
